Anyone who loves the taste of sesame will want to pick up an excellent cookbook, Open Sesame: 45 Sweet & Savory Recipes for Tahini & All Things Sesame, by Rachel Belle. The cookbook is filled with dozens of innovative ideas for using sesame products. The recipes range from appetizers, crackers, breads, salads, soups, main dishes, and desserts.
The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions. They are easy to follow and are straightforward enough that both beginning and advance cooks will be able to successfully make them.
Another good thing is that almost every recipe is accompanied by a beautiful, professional photographs which make it hard to decide which dish to make next. While there are less than 50 recipes, they are actually recipes for dishes sesame lovers will actually want to make. To be honest, my queue for “must make soon” grows every time I pick up the book.
All told, anyone who loves tahini dishes like hummus, or likes baked good topped with sesame will want to make the recipes in the book and try the new recipes to expand their cooking repertoire. This is an excellent cookbook with unique dishes that will make a good addition on the recipe shelf.
